My Background

From a passion for people
to a career of purpose.

For as long as I can remember I have always had a passion for working with children and young people. This stems from my early days at college completing a Sports Science qualification and carrying out basketball coaching roles.

I have been working in the children's care industry for over 20 years and even had the honour of working abroad in New York for the fresh air fund programme. I have held a number of roles from support worker, team leader, deputy manager, registered manager and responsible individual for various children home provisions, working with the most vulnerable young people across the country.

My aptitude and willingness to learn, is a default characteristic, as I believe you can never stop learning or being open to new ideas.

My Experience

Real-world experience.
Real change.

The type of young people I have worked with come from backgrounds whereby they have suffered trauma, neglect and abuse in different forms, which subsequently has put them at risk of CSE, gangs, county lines, self harm to name but a few.

Through my experience, training, knowledge and openness to evolve and keep an open mind, I have managed and developed responsible individuals, registered home managers and staff teams to manage these risks and produce positive outcomes for the young people in their care.

In this ever evolving industry I have gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience. I have a great understanding of the legal and policy frameworks for looked after children, vulnerable children, young people and adults at risk particularly those in residential care.

My Belief

Changing lives
through better care.

Advocate Better Care believes you cannot fully do justice to the roles without listening to children and young people without bias or prejudice. I have always worked on the premise to be child centred and child focused in order to get the best outcomes for children and young people.
